Can you spot how they counted?
Instead of having ten different symbols like we do (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0), for the numbers one to ten they only use three! (I,V,X) (They do have some other letters for bigger numbers.)
Can you see what's missing?
The Romans had no number for zero (0) - the idea of zero or 'nothing' hadn't been invented yet!
Can you imagine life without being able to have zero? |
